Advanced Placement (AP) & Other Tests for Credit

Students who earn appropriate scores on AP, CLEP, IB or DSST exams may earn college credit at ¶¶Òô³Ô¹Ï. To have test for credit posted to your ¶¶Òô³Ô¹Ï record, please follow these steps:

  1. Have an official copy of your scores sent to the ¶¶Òô³Ô¹Ï Office of Admissions by the agency sponsoring the credit (AP, CLEP, IB, DSST).
  2. Fill out and submit the .

Students interested in taking any credit exam should verify in advance that their scores will be accepted by ¶¶Òô³Ô¹Ï and what credit will be earned. To verify which exams and scores Weber State accepts, please click on one of the guideline links on this webpage. Keep in mind, credit granted for test scores may differ from what is listed in this guide depending on when you took the exam. If the exams award credit for the same course (ie. English Literature and English Language, Art exams, etc) duplicate credit cannot be awarded. If you have taken the course for which the exam would award credit at ¶¶Òô³Ô¹Ï or another college test credit will not be awarded.

Advanced Placement (AP) Examinations

¶¶Òô³Ô¹Ï grants course credit for AP scores of 3, 4, or 5 as determined by the academic department. To see which tests are accepted and the credit associated with the scores, please click the AP Guidelines link. To be eligible to have this credit added to their ¶¶Òô³Ô¹Ï record, students must  to be sent to ¶¶Òô³Ô¹Ï.

College Level Examination Program (CLEP)

Up to 30 credits may be granted for passing College Level Examination Program (CLEP) exams. CLEP exams are available in the Student Service Testing Center, Room 262, for more details visit the Testing Center website. Please ensure the test you are taking is accepted for credit at ¶¶Òô³Ô¹Ï by clicking the CLEP Guidelines link. International Baccalaureate (IB) Program

Admitted ¶¶Òô³Ô¹Ï students can earn college credit through the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. To view credit articulations for IB content exams, click the following IB guidelines link.

DANTES (DSST) Examinations

Admitted students can earn college credit by completing one or more of the DSST subject exams. 

Special Departmental Examinations

Often, admitted students are proficient in a subject not covered by College-Level Exams. In that case, they can often work with the academic departments involved to schedule tests for credit. The Testing Center has more details.

Foreign Language Credit 

Students who have prior foreign language experience can earn college credit in a number of ways. They may pass a foreign language credit exam as directed by the Department or World Languages & Cultures, or they may pass a higher level course with a grade of C or better. A student may receive up to 15 credits through passing the exam or by taking an upper-division course.
